URSULA BECK is an Artist, Writer and Philosopher whose career is dedicated to designing and producing creative art experiences for students. She founded the Taos Art School in 1996 in order to create a unique school with a special emphasis on Creativity, Native American Authenticity, Compelling Class Locations, Equine Art and Spirituality.

She weaves the multiplicity of her experiences into a whole cloth in these programs to create access for YOU to the Creative Spirit.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1: Arrive Albuquerque.  Transfer to Taos.  Welcome reception. (S)

Day 2: Sacred ceremony at Taos Pueblo, gather clay for firing pots, fireside feast and outdoor Solstice Ceremony. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Morning yoga, river stroll with picnic, leisure time to paint, sketch, or take photos. Evening at leisure.  (B,L)

Day 4: Morning yoga, “White Place” for a morning and afternoon of painting, tour of Georgia O'Keeffe's home. Evening at leisure. (B, L)

Day 5: Morning at leisure. we paint on site at “Penitente Cross.” gallery hopping, candlelight group mediation ceremony. (B, L)

Day 6:  Morning yoga, complete our clay pots with individual, hands-on tribe members at Taos Pueblo. Native American feast, and ceremony. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Morning meditation, O'Keeffe Cafe, O'Keeffe Museum, gallery hopping. (B, L, S) 

Day 8:  Group breakfast, transfer to airport for return flight home. (B)

Deposit Information:

A deposit of $550.00 per person is due at the time of booking.  Final payment is due 75 days prior to departure, which is April 5, 2010.

7 Night Art and Spiritual Retreat from $2423 pp
Includes 7 nights luxury accommodations, 6 daily breakfasts, cooked to order and graciously served, 5 lunches, 2 group dinner, welcome reception, guide services and art instruction, daily transportation, solstice ceremony, Spiritual ceremonies, yoga and meditation classes, and entrance to museums and events.

Georgia O’Keeffe fans that feel a connection with this mysterious and gifted woman, will find themselves in complete peace, and also in complete awe as they stand in the actual locations that O’Keeffe did so many times on this sacred land.

Each room at our rustic luxurious resort has a private bath with hair dryer, telephone with free local calls, wi-fi, clock radio and color cable television.

We will paint at the White Place and at Penitente Cross in a workshop setting with Ursula Beck, owner and director of the Taos Art School.

Enjoy a walking tour of Taos Pueblo, a sacred site is yours to enjoy. If you wish to take photos, or sketch while on site, please let us know so we can make these arrangements for you. Approval must be
granted in advance, and camera fees or artist’s fees may apply.

We will have the rare experience to gather on the Taos Pueblo site for an authentic Native American Feast provided for us by local residents.

Georgia O’Keeffe moves us as much with the spirit of her life as with her exceptional artwork which has inspired the world. This tour is a sacred journey more than anything else, as the daily activities will have you literally walking in her footsteps all throughout New Mexico. This journey will allow you to see the land as she did, and actually paint at the White Place and at Penitente Cross in a workshop setting with Ursula Beck, owner and director of the Taos Art School.

Additionally, we will engage with the culture and participate in Authentic Native American experiences, but also nurture our souls and artistic selves with yoga, meditative Labyrinth Walks, and riverside strolls, area hikes, and relax at night under Taos’ starry skies.

Meals will be delicious and plentiful. Breakfast will be included daily, cooked to order with gracious service. Lunches feature a different, unique location and experience every day. Most dinners will be on your own so you can enjoy the flair and activities Taos provides, but we will share together two very special dinners, which have been planned for this group. One will be a fireside feast at our opening Solstice Ceremony, and on our last night in Taos we will enjoy a traditional Pueblo Feast.

Our footstep journey will also take us through her home in Abiquiu, and our last afternoon and night; we embrace Santa Fe, a magical city of culture and art, and have the opportunity to tour the amazing O’Keeffe museum. Other galleries will beg for our attention as well.

This journey will be paced to fit the dynamic of this group. Expect moving experiences as we connect with a land in Native American Indian sacred ceremonies.  Expect to relax and be pampered at our home away from home at the San Geronimo Lodge. Expect to laugh, dine and take in life happily as we partake on this loving, informal way to immerse ourselves for a week in the Life, Landscape, and Art of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Transportation: Private, chauffeured bus/ van service for 10 hours each day as well as       pick up at the Albuquerque airport. Bus service ends at drop off at Santa Fe hotel on     the last day.

Painting Sites: 2 mornings and one afternoon painting en Plein Air at some of Georgia O’Keeffe’s most beloved sites
Native American Experiences:
  1. a Native American guides us to clay gathering sites in nearby mountains, then we
  return to the pueblo to each make our own small pot at the home of a Tribal Member.    

  On the final day, we gather for a traditional pit firing of our pottery
  2. we enjoy a guided walking tour of the ancient Pueblo
  3. we partake of a Traditional Feast
